Nose piercings have become a common form of self-expression for students, but many public high schools continue to restrict them through strict district dress codes. It can result in warnings, removal demands or even disciplinary action under school dress code policies.
The school board should allow students to have nose piercings. It isn’t a distraction and allows
students to express themselves.
First and foremost, studies have shown that nose piercings have helped with health issues.
This is related to migraines. Migraines are most common with students during school hours. Nose piercings have a certain pressure point in the nose that relieves the sinus pressure making it less likely for a migraine to occur..
Moreover, piercings can help boost teenagers’ confidence. Teenagers love expressing their personalities through such things as dying their hair, wearing different styles of clothes, and PIERCINGS. School Administrators should allow students this creativity for their individual expression.
Lastly, a piercing can boost the students’ independence. Letting teenagers make little but impactful choices about their character will automatically show them that they have choices that will in fact impact their life.
Although, school educators will disagree with piercings saying things such as its “inappropriate” or maybe even distracting or unprofessional. Who is it distracting to? Educators that have piercings say they make them feel more confident. Stopping a student’s individuality is a message that the school district should not want to send. The school board should have a community meeting to see how others feel about this matter.
Piercings are a way for a student to show self-expression and should be allowed by the school board.
