Head Sting captain Rebecca Tuggle made many memories while she was a part of the Stingerettes.

Senior Rebecca Tuggle has wanted to be a Stingerette ever since her sister Rachel Tuggle got the chance to be a part of the team. The experience her sister had was something Rebecca wanted the chance to experience too.

“I watched her dance with the team and get close to them,” Rebecca said. “I wanted to have an experience like that.”

When Rebecca made Stings she got involved with anything she could within the organization. Rebecca was freshman and sophomore representative and En Croix Vice President. Then Rebecca’s Junior year, she tried out for stingerette captain and her dream to impact the team came true.

“Wren Loyd was captain one year and she led with such integrity and grace,” Rebecca said. “After watching her lead by example I wanted to impact like that in the way I lead.”

Throughout her four years as a Stingerette and two years as captain, Rebecca has captured many memories with the team. Dancing through football season and competition season with the team, crying with the girls, and laughing with the girls, she created memories to last a lifetime.

“My favorite memory from competition season would definitely be winning state and national titles as a team,” Rebecca said. “The team really bonds through all of our practices, trips, and common competitive nature. It’s amazing to watch the team go from a group of girls to a unified body that even breathes to the same beat.”

When you spend hours after school, weekends, and summer days, the team starts to become a second family. You also learn so many different things about each other and grow from each other.

“Stings has impacted my life by giving me a second home in high school,” Rebecca said. “It’s given me so many friends and role models that make me the person I am today.”

As Rebecca leaves these amazing four years behind her she hopes to continue to dance or teach classes at her old dance studio as she’s in college. Along with being on the team the last four years, she hopes to continue to keep the friendships she’s made with the girls.

“Serving as their head captain and watching the team grow was truly indescribable,” Rebecca said.
