“Play ball” is heard from the umpire and all positions get set and focused. The game of baseball is started. Stephenville faces Benbrook in the first round. They win the series and bring home Bi-District. Then, they prepare for Area against Iowa Park.

The Yellowjackets head to Abilene to battle out against Iowa Park. The Yellowjackets had a great series against Benbrook coming home with two wins to secure Bi-District. The offense was a huge role for Stephenville in the late innings.

“We hit the ball very well with 8 doubles and 3 triples in two games. Clay Krause went 6-8 at the plate in two games. Cade Dunavant got on base in all 8 at-bats. These things help us a lot” Coach Swenson said.

On the other side, Daniel Luna Jr., a sophomore, pitched a great game to keep Stephenville in the lead.

“He had a great performance. He pitched us out of a bases loaded jam with only one out,” Swenson said.

The Yellowjackets have some adjustments to work on going into the second round.

“I am preparing them to hit an upper 80’s fastball and defend a very aggressive base running team. We’ve been working on sacrifice bunting and bunting for base hits” Swenson said.

The Yellowjackets have had a rested week with crisp practicing to stay prepared for the Area game against Iowa Park.

“Short and crisp practices. Making sure we are well rested and fundamentally ready to play. We still practice with full energy. We are going into this weekend with confidence. If we play our best baseball that I know we are capable of, we will win.”
