Stranger Things season two review
February 15, 2018
Stranger Things, is a thrilling Netflix original series, where science fiction turns into reality: Retro meets alien invasion. Set in 1983, Stranger Things, pulls in the lives of four best friends and turns their life’s upside down. With the disappearance of Will and the encounter with Eleven, who was psychologically tortured for the benefit of scientists. The ending of season one leaves us in shock and whirlwind. In the end of season one, Will is finally saved by Hopper and his mom from the underworld, and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) defeats the Demogorgon (video game). Then a few months later, it’s Christmas and Will (Noah Schnapp) throws up a slug creature into the sink, and worst of all Eleven is missing! What is to come from season two? What happened to Eleven? Is Will at any risk? What about the gang, will they finally have closure? Who else is ready for Eleven and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) too get together? Good thing you guys don’t have to wait for long. I, my friends have all the scoop of season two, and if you haven’t watched it, beware because there are many spoilers ahead.
Welcome back too Hawkins, Indiana. Second season introduces us to three new characters: Max (Sadie Sink), the new girl in town, her cruel brother Billy (Dacre Montgomery), and Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) who we later discover is number eight. I didn’t really enjoy her character, she lacked depth, and I really wanted her to go with Eleven back to Hawkins.
Will is back with the gang and everything is about playing video games once again. But, this happiness doesn’t last long, ever since Will is back he’s been having flashbacks of the “Upside Down”, something is coming, but this time it’s worst. As the gang tries to figure out what’s happening to Will, it is discovered that Eleven was found by Hopper(David Harbour), who took her to his old cabin in the woods and has since taken the role of her father. Ever since season one, I have been waiting for them too announce that Eleven is Hopper’s daughter. Also, we get too see another side of Steve(Joe Keery), who by the end of the season becomes my favorite character. I know that Nancy(Natalia Dyer) and Nathan(Charlie Heaton) were going too end up together, and I was fine with that until Steve started acting like a big brother too Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo). I mean it just about killed me when Nacy didn’t tell Steve she loved him when they were in the bathroom.
The Shadow Monster, is a guard dog for the main monster in season two, who has been using Will too spy for him, which by the way I knew all along. The way they burned the connection between Will and the monster is crazy. I love how the director incorporated Morse Code into this episode. While this is all happening, Eleven gets reunited with the gang for a short time. Then she is off too face the Mind Flayer and close the gate once and for all which she does with the help of Hopper. Hopper has slowly grown into a better person, who deserves to be happy and if it’s not too much too ask, can’t he just get with Joyce(Winona Ryder).
Everything is well once again in Hawkins, Indiana. Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about Barb (Shannon Purser), who is sadly dead, which I don’t understand since Will was in the same situation and didn’t die. And worst of all, she wasn’t even given a proper funeral. The only reason her parents got closure was because of the publication of Nancy’s tapes which finally causes the lab too shut down. I don’t believe this even for a second. The show won’t continue if they don’t have evil doctors. One of my favorite parts of the last episode was when Hopper gets legal rights over Eleven. I was waiting for this since season one.
A month later, it’s time for the Snowball, which is a school dance. Nathan and Nancy chaperone the dance while giving each other googly eyes. Steve gives Dustin a ride to the dance where he teaches him how to get a girl to dance with him. This one of the most iconic parts of the season. Lucas(Caleb McLaughlin) gets with Max and they kiss, and Mike and Eleven finally kiss. I know that they are just middle school kids, but they deserve to be together. Sadly, all this happens at the dance while everyone is unaware that the Shadow Monster is still alive. This seasons was filled with so much action and twisted turns. This is my favorite seasons so far, and I’m ready for the next season, who has already singed off to start filming.
