In preparation for reading Patrick Henry’s speech to the Virginia House of Burgesses in English 3 class, students debated the issues from King George’s and Parliament’s point of view with that of Thomas Jefferson’s and the colonists’. Two conclusions made were that the King’s belief in divine right rule was hard to defend and that most all of the issues came down to money.
