A High School Christmas Tale

Twas the week of finals at SHS – every student was worried about their final tests. The teachers were stressed with grades to be entered and visions of Christmas break dancing in their heads.

The books were lined up in the library with care, students studying in hopes that they’d soon be released for the year. When in the front doors rushed a miniature sleigh, with eight tiny reindeer a true wonder to be seen; a little old man with cheeks bright with color and a pipe in his lips, students knew very quickly it must be St. Nick.

The driver was lively and quick dressed in fur and all red, flying up to the school with Macbooks ripe in his sled.

Down the roof through the doors he came with a leap and a band; he spoke not a word as he worked his way around. The Macbooks were left around the tree in the foyer, placed with a care – a sure sign to students – that Christmas was here.

He turned with a jerk and gave a nod as he ran through the door- as he ran out of sight he whistled, shouted, and called his reindeer by name from the topmost floor.

“Now Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all! Now Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight.”
